Just been watching smarmy con-merchant James Russell flogging some tat jewellery under the banner of it being a 'gold clearance'. This is completely misleading because none of it is actually gold, just gold-plated, and that is something totally different. Of course, there are the constant references to, 'all that gold', 'chock full of gold' and 'substantial amounts of gold' - trying to bamboozle the viewer into thinking they are getting something that actually has value in the amount of gold
That old fossil, Peter Simon, said the other night that you were getting 'a huge amount of gold' on something that was plated to one micron in thickness - that's one thousandth of a millimeter - the actual gold value on that would be absolutely miniscule, probably less than a penny. And it's not as if you can extract the gold to melt it down into some kind of nugget anyway.
