I am terrified of birds, particularly pigeons. I am sure they can detect this because they always seem to land near me on the street rather than any of my friends if we are walking along or sitting outside a pub etc.. If one of those manic seagulls came near me I would probably have a heart attack.
One hotel in Germany kept a parrot in reception and I had to be escorted straight through to the lift whilst my friend went back for my key! And do not get me started on the peacock at one place which wandered through the ground floor reception and dining areas. Dear God!
