Just watched a small sample recording,of a pink kaftan trying to push a £450.00 hairdryer/curler.Heavily pregnant with Charlie fawning and uttering the usual fake astonishment.
Do these people not realise that’s more than some people have money for a month, to pay bills or put food on the table.
Shameless and insulting 💰

Without seeing this particular demonstration, it's hard to judge. I think £450 is an absolutely ridiculous amount of money to spend on something as mundane as a hairdryer, and even if I could comfortably afford to buy it, I wouldn't. There are obviously people out there who would consider it worth spending that sort of money, or have so much disposable cash that it takes no more consideration than throwing a tin of beans into a supermarket trolley. However extortionate the price is, it's part of their product range - and they need to, and have every right to try and sell it to us. They don't need to consider those in financial dire straits, why would they? If the demo actively encourages people to go without essentials in order to pay for it, then yes, that's shameless and insulting. Talking about "easy pay" instalments = fine, just so long as they're not making crass comments such as "Nobody will notice a little £100 going out of their bank account for a few months" or " Do your shopping in Lidl for a few months and go back to Waitrose when it's all paid off"!
They will always be luxury and overpriced goods and people who can afford to buy them, or are happy to spend the extra cash, just as there will always be people struggling to provide their families with the most basic of needs. It's a horrible imbalance I know - It would be good to see Q do what TJC do - raise money to provide meals for hungry kids!

I’m fortunate in the fact I could buy any of the Dyson hair gizmos, but I never would. My hair is long, is in good condition, I’ve got no split ends and I use a £29.99 babyliss hairdryer, so Mr. Dyson should take note.

I know people rave about the Dyson hairdryer etc but I’ve got better things to spend my money on. When Dyson comes on, I switch off.

It’s of no interest to me as I have very short crop.

Sometimes I compare things to a week’s holiday where most of it was spent boking down the loo due to a jippy tummy or a disappointing hotel or place yet most think nothing of booking a holiday every year. At least with an object you get to look and use it over many months/years I suppose it’s a case of what is more important to you.

I think anyone who buys a Dyson instead of food is going to do daft things with their budget anyway and shouldn’t be trusted in a shop or on tellyselly.

Most of us - particularly of a certain age, wouldn't even consider forking out that amount for a hairdryer - we've more sense, BUT equally there is some seriously high priced jewellery for sale -- tanzanite in the thousands, which might be coveted, and there will always be those who CAN afford to buy.

Its the same with the Peony faux flaaaaars. I wouldn't entertain paying around £100 for one of the arrangements that (to me) is another dust collector, and could see 3 weeks groceries for that amount, BUT there will be those that just have to have it to beautify their homes for whatever reason. I suppose some may have bread and jam for tea but they have a nice arrangement to look at while they're eating it 🤭

Another with short cropped hair. I could buy a Dyson if I wanted, but refuse to give the ******* Dyson my money if I did want to buy one.

I thought buying a £165 hairdryer for £39.99 from TKMaxx was OMG!!!! For me, and yes it was £165 RRP as I had seen it in SpaceNK. The staff even with staff discount could not get it at that price and rushed round to TKMaxx and bought. ;) After me showing it to them.

Like Brissles I wouldn't dream of spending any sort of money on faux flowers but if that’s what floats your boat and you can easily afford it great. Likewise with gloop and smelly wax, but I will quite happily buy a piece of jewellery or something for the garden or a piece of glass and not bat an eyelid.

Each to their own. The problem is buying what you can’t afford.

I agree, and I don't care how realistic they look or what beautiful vessel they're displayed in, unless you keep on top of your dusting big time, they'll start to look grubby quite quickly and are a bugger to clean without damaging them. I've seen a few examples of Peony flaars in my local Homesense store and you can tell quite easily that they're not real. Imo faux takes away the joy of buying seasonal flowers, or being given them, nothing looks nicer than a simple vase of daffs, they brighten up any room, and not forgetting the aroma of fresh flowers. I think Peony sell a spray scent to go on your fake flowers - Yuk, no thank you very much. The only thing I spend big on is stuff that you really need to spend big on eg, large electricals, furniture, home improvements - that sort of thing - When it comes to the mundane, I usually go cheap or midrange and I read all the reviews. For example I'm using a £10 Swan steam iron and I kid you not, it's the best one I've ever had, out performing all manner of steam generators (including Polti), and a stream press ( one of my worst purchases ever) ! My hair dryer is a GHD, but it's a folding travel sized one and didn't cost a fortune 'cause it was in a sale, and it packs a good punch for its size, and my wet and dry straightener cost next to nothing too and I'm really pleased with it!
Certainly won't be putting myself in debt for the sake of skin creams, shampoo or overpriced branded goods!
