I've got a Kitchenaid liquidiser and if I hadn't I would definitely have bought this. It looked really easy to use and quick. The only thing I was concerned about was the quantity - I like to make a big batch of soup and freeze it - this only makes 1.4 litres.

It's the smaller size that appeals to me steelerannie as there is only me that eats soup and I get fed up of it when I make a big pot. My freezer is always full so freezing not always an option.

Although I would consider this, the size put me off a bit also. I think there is something special about making a 'pan of soup' on the hob. I don't think this 'gadget' would be suitable for a family, either.

Shame didnt get an out take from the show , see that lady demonstrating the other day and stuggling to get the blender beaker to sit right, took four attempts then they cut away he he , goes to show that Chef Paul makes it look easy ... Mark

Looked a waste of space to me - in more ways than one. I already have a soup maker - it's called a saucepan - and I have a stick blender. Why would anyone need yet another clutterance taking up space on the work surface?

Now a giant Magimix to replace my 30 year old one which is on its way to the great kitchen in the sky - that would be a serious consideration.

Well it arrived yesterday and I've just made my first soup for lunch and I am very impressed. It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be, heats up really really quick and I've just made a fantastic soup in 20 minutes. I could barely chop the veg quick enough. So much easier than using a stock pot/pan on the hob. Easy to use (I didn't bother with the recipe book, who does with soup?) and easy to clean.
