I looked for a thread on this so apologies if I couldn't see it (Sazza please merge if necessary).

Anyway - yet another email from QVC inviting us to buy early!

These coats always look too short for me - I like a good covering of the derriere! Anyone gone for a similar style in the past and are they literally actually mid-thigh length?

The colour descriptions on the web are the usual mismatch - I've never seen an almond or teal masquerading as ivory or navy. :wonder:

(A quick teach-in on how to rename a link would be gratefully received)!

I bought 156692 in black it is very similar to the TSV but this one has a removable lining and faux fur edging to hood which can be removed. The length a very good on me, about 3-4 inches above knee, but I am only 5ft 3in!!
I love it after dithering about getting it for ages.
Just checked the TSV is over an inch longer than mine.

One word: Anorak!

If you click and copy a link address, then in the text of your post highlight the word that will "represent" the link - while highlighted click the symbol on the little tool bar above each reply box - (you want the little planet earth with a number 8 on its side). A small box will pop up and you "paste" the copied link into the box and click OK. If you click on the link in your post preview you can check that the link works HTH.

I do wish I could have whoever writes the blurbs for QVC at the back of a remedial English class, with the fierce grammar teacher, who wore a bun and elasticated at the knee directoire knickers, who drilled English usage into me sixty or so years ago.

"Jewel colours of egg plant and teal". An aubergine (egg plant) is a vegetable, a teal is a bird. Neither of them is a jewel.

I presume Q is importing these coats, sorry, short bum freezer jackets, from the USA, thus bringing us words totally new to the language. A fooler. What??? Is that the zip close thing at the neckline?

I do like the fact that on this coat they have gone back to the Anglo Saxon figure, the bottom is 5 inches wider than the bust. It's a pity the bottom ends so high off the floor, even for those of us with little legs. And they appear to have put another dead cat on the hood.

I bought the green equivalent of this TSV from last years TSV.I did like it at the time..I wore it quite a lot last winter.I thought it was quite fashionable for QVC! However i really do think (as i did last year - and told them on the review) that they bring these things far too late in the season. To be honest I wanted this in September ready for the winter...but instead i bought another centigrade coat and a OTO.Its a bit like northern nights...how much bedding or how many coats can I one person need??? I shall have to pull mine out again...it hasn't really seen the light of day since last winter...

Are they any good in pouring rain? Doesn't matter how warm it is if it soaks through. This would be handy for work but I'm usually in the rain for hours at a time if it's one of those days. I'm thinking at that price it's not waterproof. Any experiences? Ty x

They are great for keeping the cold out, but no so good with water, in my experience. Rain showers are fine, but for a through soaking in which you are standing for hours probably not suitable.

"It takes you seamlessly from walking the dog to meeting the girls for lunch".

Yes, but remember to remove the plastic bag of dog poo from the pocket before entering the restaurant.

I HATE quilted coats. They're everywhere that sells coats. Everyone looks the same, and unless you live in the north of the UK they are too ****** hot to wear in the tropical temperatures we have in the South. Q rabbit on about the 'cold' but where I live (30 miles north of London) its a rare occurrence for temperatures to go into single figures and below. Some lovely coats were offered by Helen Berman but not been seen recently.

I have 4 quilted coats and love them. I lived in Surrey until 10 weeks ago and now live on the South Coast. I feel the cold though. So far this winter has been warm so most of the time I have been wearing a centigrade lined hooded mac.

I use proper brands such as Regatta or Trespass for walking the dog. Though I do like my Centigrade padded cots for cold normal wear.Though not worn this winter yet.

I must admit I own 2 and I don't find them stylish, but they are a necessity in the north west during winter, spring and autumn...

You need styling by one of the professional stylists at QVC. Then you could go out in the north west with one of those frocks which a model was wearing in the 7 am show. Trailing to the floor at the back, just right for dragging in puddles, and cut up above the knees at the front, just right for having a strong NW wind blow up your thighs. The top half of you would be warm and snug in the Centigrade, but unfashionable, and your lower half would be fashion forward bang on trend, but wet and cold. (Question, do the stylists ever leave the warm studio, or even venture into the real world at all?)

And essential in my neck of the woods, too. Nobody dresses for style with the wind speed and temperatures we get in winter unless they're spending a mint and even then it would be one of the specialist outerwear brands. No, for me it's now Land's End's finest padded down and feather, below the knee and toasty warm on the coldest winter day. If you keep an eye on their offers (30% off on everything for today) you can get a really good deal, particularly in the sale section. The quality has always been brilliant. I also have a knee-length Land's End autumn coat that cost a mere £45, including p&p, which someone said "just looks the business". Quite what business, she didn't say, which has always made me wonder a bit...

Another edit: the link still doesn't work. I keep being sent to a tradedoubler.com link saying something about the advertiser and a blank page, so just copy and paste http://www.landsend.co.uk into your address bar and it should work.

Oh yes, I saw that rather attractive ensemble too - very fetching (not).

Okay, I HATE COATS WITH FUR ON THEM!!!! I see people walking round with dripping wet fake fur looks like drown rat!

Now I do own a quilted coat, bought in M&S sell last year(I hunted until I found one with no fur, like looking for a needle in a haystack of quilted coats), anyway a friend insists its a granny coat and said don't wear it if out with me. I did once and told me I did not suit it. Hell its warm and keeps me dry. Handy for work.

Oh great! Haven't channel hopped for days, first thing I hear when I channel hopped to QVC was diddy Me Hall saying "yes, yes it's like real fur!"...........a personal best of two whole seconds watching mumbling Campbell with his "story" and "lot of coat for your money" rubbish and diddy Me Hall, before over it goes.

You didn't stop to count how many times Glenn could get the word 'vibe' into the programme?
