Carrier Bags

They used to be called that. Made of stiff paper with a string handle and included with the purchase. Nowadays it seems that a carrier bag will cost extra and that's why you're asked if you want one. How much extra? When I go clothes shopping I always need a carrier bag. They don't cost extra in Italy, but the price of the bag is probably factored into the cost of the clothes.

I'm sure the cost of a carrier bag is more about the environment. I always carry a tote bag when shopping.

I live in a smallish northern town called Brandizzo. It is very close to Torino. Some people like it (the Italians, that is) . I don't.

If the paper of the carrier bag is not plasticized in any way, I put it in my compost, all shredded up. I don't know if others do that, however.
