I have never heard them talk about Perfection Ultime moisturiser. Is it a new launch?

I must try to resist this because of the stash but it is tempting, unless that is a new version of Age Benefit which is not worth its very high unit price IMHO.

Yes it is a new launch

Apart from QVC having info on it, desertislandbeauty again has this - picture, sizes and item number. I think CJ is on the privileged list of bloggers.

Nothing yet on Gatineau official channels - so they must be embargoed from having it until after the launch.

QVC clearly seems to call the shots with Gatineau on launches... not surprising when they are its biggest retailer.

It does appear on Gatineau Latvia, but my Latvian isn't up to much.

More bizarrely when I looked on Gatineau Russia, their page for this product looks like they've used exactly the same template as QVC.

Single item on QVC DE - so it looks like a tinted face cream in different shades.

Could be, but doesn't look like it. He was at beauty bash. I definitely believe that QVC now have a stable of beauty bloggers to whom they release TSVs ahead of time. Ali Young has been name-checking CJ for years, she has mentioned meeting him. I think it highly likely that he has had preview details of this rather than just picking it up from this forum.

Details and photos of this TSV were available at the Beauty Bash, seen loads about it on FB so CJ will likely have got ot from BB of FB.

His name crops up all the time, think he goes to meet the presenters at The Beauty Bash. Along with another few names that I hear constantly, think they tag along for the ride, lol!! Who are these people that seem to seek out telly presenters?? They really seem obsessed with Beauty Products, jeeezoo! :mysmilie_17:

I wonder if we all set up our own beauty blogs if that would fast track us into the privileged class who get to go to these sort of events?

There are undoubtedly a number of beauty bloggers out there who seem to be very QVC-centric in what they review. At least it's not just Debbie's mate Sharon who gets the inside track.

The trouble with many big beauty bloggers now is that they've become these weird sort of lifestyle gurus. You used to get fairly useful posts just reviewing beauty items (as the title of their blog suggested), now they'll talk about candles, clothes, toilet cleaners, one was even discussing her smear test results.

It's really tiresome.

When once you could get unbiased useful critique on beauty items, now they're all mainly sponsored posts which are all glowing positive reviews. Strange that.... :mysmilie_10:

For some of them blogging is their main, if not their only, source of income. It's inevitable that if bloggers become influential, the big brands will want to try to get them on side to use that influence for their own benefit. It's a tricky line to walk for the blogger - you can't tell the brands to take a hike as you need to be able to go to events and try their products to review them. It is a bit easier when you find bloggers who tries to be somewhat transparent about whether or not they are being paid for a review, and when blogging is a sideline not their main job.

Most things which start out as wholly independent seem to eventually get dragged into the mainstream... so we wait for the next innovation in media and communication.

My DD started a blog last year (she's just turned 20) and it's been amazing (alarming) how quickly she's been contacted with invites to events to be schmoozed with goody bags to court a positive review.
She started out listing her must-haves and because she mentioned using Cleanse & Polish since she was about 6 years old (face paints) she had a lovely tweet from the Liz Earle company and we kind of appreciated that they didn't try to foist other products on her to review. What undermines the credibility of the Q stable of bloggers is that they never dislike anything and they rarely mention products outside the QVC inventory. The preview of new items is useful but their opinions are worthless!

I read a few bloggers. British Beauty Blogger actually did a long article about this, she is a lady I will say in her 40s and very straight forward in thinking. She said now bloggers are consider free advertising by many companies and you have to play ball or they cut you dead. She had a problem with one brand she no longer features on her blog(did not mention who), very aggressive in their, you will write this and this and this. In other words tow the line with our views and info on products. One company she got on brilliantly with their PR and chatty etc, then suddenly blanked, she is not sure if PR was told to be less friendly or she did not write what the company wanted.

There are only a few bloggers I trust, Caroline Hirons, The British Beauty Blogger, The Best In Beauty(she is an older US lady and goes to the stores to buy the products), the Beauty Professor who looks like a model but her foundation swatches are the BEST! I have matched myself many times to her charts for brands I cannot get to see in real life.

In the US you can go to a store buy the product, you use it don't like and can return for full refund! I read makeupalley and they are just normal women who go out buy products and you will get a very honest opinion as they used their own money to buy. If they don't rate they return and if they love rave, they don't lose out giving their opinions.
