Hii can anyone recommend any treatments for acne on the chest , shoulders and back? My bf is in mid 20s and still suffers. Its only mayb 3/4 spots at a time but i no it bothers him. I ordered the ABC skinwash 3 times now ( more fool me but listening to AY advice) and tbh hasnt made any difference at all. hes also tried the tea tree skinwash from bodyshop and still no better and clinique did a spray treatment for the back and that was totally useless. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I occasionally get hormonal acne. I use Dalacin, available for topical use from the doctors, I think it's prescription only. Probably wouldn't be good for a large area but for a few spots it may help. It's a mild antibiotic cream.

Men and doctors are bad getting together, but he needs to see the doc. I get spots still at my age, and use savlon, or the good old sudocreme, if he wont go to doctors

There's a relatively new treatment cream available over the counter called Freederm that has some really good reports. Might be worth a try if he would prefer to treat it himself.

He could also try an antibacterial wash as its on his back. That might help.

Also making sure he thoroughly rinses out all shampoo or conditioner. Traces left on the back can block pores.

He will be smothered in sudocrem tonight lol many thanks for ur replies

We use it a lot in the hospital, helps everything, but don't smother :)

Some people in the hospital plaster it on everywhere. You'd be suprised. I put some on my pimples round my nose last night
and it has calmed them down this morning, they look less red and angry

Hi I thoroughly recommend freederm the rapid acting one. I've recently been diagnosed with a whole load of contact dermatitis allergies, suffer with eczema, allergic reactions etc and although it contains alcohol I can still use this on breakouts I get on my face (despite my skin being sahara dry!) it really helps.

Is that the one thats comes in a small tube and its gel?

Assuming he has no bad reactions to aspirin, you can make a paste - a few drops of water with a soluble aspirin to make a paste and coat the spot (esp thes angry headless ones). Lots of spot treatments have salicylic (sp) acid. It's cheap to try and can help dry out or draw out spots. Tooth paste can have a similar effect. Another vote for sudacrem too.

this has worked for me, i quote :

'Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (29ml) is an excellent spot treatment made with a blend of Calamine and Salicylic Acid to clear up and soothe unsightly whiteheads overnight.
Will not irritate or dry surrounding skin.
For immediate relief from unsightly whitheads and pimples, dab one drop of the solution on each erupted area overnight
Suitable for all skin types.'

Thanks everyone really appreciate it . Any tips on a gd shower gel/skin wash he could use aswell? tried ABC and didnt help at all

I'd keep it simple, so at it doesn't irritate his skin. I used to think "simple" was a good brand but apparently it has a lot of nasties in it,
so i'd say keep it uncomplicated. He should really go to the doctors, it would be all over in ten minutes and it would probably help
more and give him more confidence. I used to have spots on my chest and back when i was a lot younger, and tried everything, and
doctors didnt help then. I still have greasy skin, but they say you get less wrinkles lol

you could have a look here : http://www.drorganic.co.uk/about.asp
and check out the Tea Tree range - Holland & Barrett is exclusive retailer, shop or online
Tea Tree Body Wash at around a fiver is imho good value for organic, no nasties, parabens, SLS etc product

i have used many products and still trying more from this company, but have not tried the Tea Tree stuff, but all the other things have been from good to very impressive, so i thought i share ...

have tried the Aloe Vera Gel though, which could be nice to soothe and calm and mosturize

its the one above Autumn

I echo what others have said - I have terrible acne in my 20s - still get breakouts now - I did get it on my back, chest , tops of arms, face and neck - very distressing and confidence sapping. There are loads of long term anti-biotics, retin a gel etc that help slightly. I got offered roaccutane as mine was so bad but decided to persevere with other treatments. It's not so bad now and us females can use things like dianette which I still take in my late 30s. Fortunately for me (NOT) my skin isn't as bad now spot wise but highly allergic and looks awful for a whole load of different reasons :confused2:

I'd say if its moderately bad get you other half to see his GP but freederm is really good - good luck
