The Tomorrow War, had some time travel. A family man is drafted to fight in a future war where the fate of humanity relies on his ability to confront the past. Saw it on ITV recently: https://www.itv.com/watch/the-tomorrow-war/10a6071a0001B/10a6071a0001

Do you like my "Patek Philippe" 'Genoa'? Automatic, exhibition back, 2 sweep second hands (main and ⁶ complication), 24 hour (³ complication) and day/night indicator at 12. 😜

Hah, yes. My now elderly Mum was similar, left school at earliest, but can spell well, taught me to read and write before I started infants school. We used to play spelling games in the evenings amongst the family. "Spell 'pneumatic' ..." with the dictionary at hand if needed. We learned our...

What I do enjoy is the quality and good language and writing of presumably the older generational members on the site. Overall quality of language, not just syntax/grammar points. Do you think it's just you learn more as you get older and read and write better, or a sad indictment of our...

Lord Helpus said: I have stopped contributing to IW Random Musings. I came to feel I was experiencing deja vu. Does anyone else agree? @Lord Helpus @Scraping the barrel Yes, agree wholeheartedly with you both on the repeated sameness of the IW random musings thread and posters. The creativity...

Yep, exactly, same with my elderly relatives. They didn't need it and it just went into the bank. The stats showed something like 75% of those pensioners receiving WFP didn't need it. Just a nice to have. Of course, the question was then where you do set the threshold to receive it. Personally...

Hmmm, the Oud element ups the price. Same stuff from Armaf without Oud is £19-£30 https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Armaf/Club-de-Nuit-Oud-88825.html https://www.onbuy.com/gb/p/armaf-club-de-nuit-oud-eau-de-parfum-105ml~p103595615/ I remember an episode of The Apprentice where they had to...

Yes, I know, just felt like pointing out the technicalities.😊 I think just heating the room(s) you're occupying, is a reasonable strategy, and just possibly you might turn off the gas CH completely to save wear and tear and costs and just use an efficient heater in the room. We do this when we...

Well, to be fair, you could turn off the gas central heating part. But still use the gas boiler for hot water only. A lot cheaper for just instant hot water when needed. Except for boiler maintenance/servicing. Only problem is the electric heaters or panels in daytime are probably more...

Fyi. You can have the hot water on separate to the central heating radiators.

Usually a switch or knob on the boiler to turn the radiator circuit on/off, to just have the hot water function on, with the CH radiators off. Or have other heating solutions and an electric immersion hot water cylinder tank.

US election: Can't decide who I think is worse. The lesser of two evils? Harris: poor candidate, can't think on her feet, can't talk off-script, can't answer simple voter questions, flip-flops on issues, has no purpose, no principles, seems to stand for nothing and has the worst, whiny...

Don't knock 'hoarders'. Most of my eBay auction/offer tech bargains were from house estates of sadly deceased, where a relative is selling off their possessions, for a lot less than they were bought for, or worth. One branded new unused 4G phone I bought on eBay about 5 years ago was a quarter...

Twice actually. First time was in the late night kebab shop when my watch that has a reflective circular bezel dial glinted under the fluorescent light and my friend behind the counter asked about it, so showed him it and the automatic movement. Second time was in Wetherspoon's, of all places...
