Seconded. My elderly but adventurous parents recently decided to dip their toe into cruising. Best cabin on a prestigious ship. Their take on it? 'Don't bother, onshore time is over-shadowed by having to be constantly aware of getting back to the ship on time and the ship was full of old people...
Donna - Same problem! I'm short. Full length pyjamas don't work for me and I always bought M&S crops. For future reference, I've just bought some from Damart and they're lovely.
Forget that it's hideous. Who the heck wants to sleep under polyester?? It's bad enough that they try to flog us over-priced clothes made of it - but bedding??!
Absolutely spot on Deasmum. The rich and famous aren't collecting these stones which aren't sold by the respected jewellers - only available on shopping telly - for a reason - they're not sought after and not valuable. If they're investing in jewellery at all, it's flawless big 4 stuff from Bond...
I was watching a programme about very high end pawn brokers yesterday. Obviously they have their fingers on the pulse of what is desirable (in terms of luxury goods) and what isn't. One of them in particular specialises in jewellery and watches - diamond rings with a second hand value of £30,000...
This 'everyone' doesn't and this everyone has 30 years experience in working for a major publisher and of working with hundreds of authors. I don't doubt that the odd fake and/or solicited review slips in - but not 782 of them.
Publishers don't waste their time on authors who don't sell, the...
It must be frustrating to be expected to keep a mobile phone purely for verification purposes. It's surprising that banks haven't found a way to deal with this for deaf customers - and equally, very elderly people like my M-I-L who has never got her head around mobile phones!
This! I was very lucky on a special anniversary, to be taken to a very smart jeweller, where I was sat down with a glass of Champagne and spent a wonderfully happy hour or so, trying many rings on before making a selection. The details of the diamond and gold specs were explained to us in detail...
She's signed to Bookoutre, so she's not self-publishing these days. They're not one of the big players but they're a respected outfit.
A someone who spent most of my career in publishing, I know that most authors are great fans of telephone box libraries. We live very rurally - and local authors...
I wrote here back in March that I had really enjoyed one of Annaliese's presentations - to derision. She just needed time to find her feet, and she has. I have no doubt that Ophelia just needs a little time too. I just so hope that she doesn't read here.
How bizarre! Modal has been around since the 50's. I wish I were surprised though - Gems seems to allow it's presenters to obfuscate and downright lie at will!
We're very lucky to live in a very beautiful area now - but we've lived everywhere (34 years Army) and I've witnessed my husband's theory in action. He says 'Keeping an area up, starts with one person - who paints their front door, maintains hanging baskets, mows their lawn - one does it, others...
I'm wondering if the presenters are jumping ship? The number of 'silent auctions' is testament to the seriousness of the problem.
They must be embarrassed by being expected to flog junk with some overweight middle aged man banging on for hours, or an excitable young girl alongside them talking...
I saw Alex Hayden and Annaliese presenting Mr. Max last night. I don't know if Alex's calm and cheerful style simply works well with Annaliese's personality but I found them so engaging as a duo that I actually watched it, rather than just had QVC on as background noise.
This! They truly have lost their way and made their brand a laughing stock.
I feel so sorry for the decent presenters having to peddle this stuff. The likes of Ruth & Rosie joined an interesting jewellery channel back in the day, and are now stuck flogging market stall clothes and cheap sweets...
Could the lack of dashing back and forth across The Atlantic have anything to do with a greater understanding of minimising our carbon footprint? I can't find an excuse for MW not occasionally showing up via video link though. If you want people to buy your hideously over-priced, one size fits...
