    Ellis Is Now Totally Pointless

Predictable overnight Jade re-runs. Shouldn't be surprised but was quite angry at this comparison. DT: Here's my icy black jade earrings (in gold tone) for £199. And here's my price comparison piece for £345,000 +/-. No clocks, no gimmicks, straight to the price. Ellis: OMG! £345,000 and...

Sounds like something that I might exclaim when I stub my toe 😀

    Diamonds(?)

Just a gentle reminder (if it was needed) that diamonds are a commodity, pure and simple, with huge vested interests in maintaining a sense of value.

    Jade Troth is back

£249. Ouch. Gotta love a trier. That is top whack Retail and will probably never achieve that price again in the next 200 years...legacy jewellery, my foot.

    Monstrosities

Yep. Change the jig slightly and put in rose quartz and SHAZZAM!! you have an equally ugly rose. Please don't tell me he showed images of the carved jade Chinese cabbage in the Taipei National Museum as a comparison?!! Oh, by the way, you can buy these on Amazon. AI generated product...

    Good value items

Good to see that you're happy with these. They look like a perfectly workaday pair. I wouldn't fret too much on the ethical front. It's extremely unlikely that these stones will have come from small, artisanal miners.

    Lyndsay ...

"...and as they come into the last corner, it's Absolutely in the lead, with GorgeousAmountofGold in second and WhatWeAreExperiencing chasing hard for third. Oh! WhatWeAreExperiencing has thrown it's rider Cheralene. What a shame but now it's neck and neck between GorgeousAmountofGold and...

    Monstrosities

£125.00 for them?!!! Good flipping grief. Lapis looks dyed to me. That turquoise colour isn't natural, is it? Normally the base rock is white or grey, isn't it? These are my three equivalents.

    Gemporia's Biggest Problem

Rose de France's false friends reminds me of a rule on assessing items formally. In the area that I used to work in, I'd catalogue some Gemporia's items as truly worthless (think some of the Lifestyle Channel's offerings...) but the rest may be just plain valueless - right now or for some time...

    Gemporia's Biggest Problem

"Naturally Lavender" is another variety of fogging names. "Gorgeous clasp" (direct quote from Lindsey Carr). So gorgeous, she didn't show it but Lazy Susan did. Is that silver hollowed out?!

    Gemporia's Biggest Problem

It seemed very odd to me too. A warning pop up or message at the point when you select a re-size would probably cover them, but still a reason to think twice. Perhaps it does do that 🤷 but there is no suggestion in any of the reviews or Gemporia responses that this is the case. One lady...

Today, Bennet vault, what the heck is Kammerlite?

And it's best in mineral specimen form, with deep purple being most desired and not much of the snotty green host rock. Not suitable really for jewellery being very low on the mohs scale. Pendant, ok. Earrings, maybe. Ring/bracelet not.

    Gemporia's Biggest Problem

Everyone on this forum is aware of the precipitous decline in gemstone quality, metal weight and build quality of Gemporia and Gem Collector products. The shenanigans around "sale", "clearance", re-listing items under new item codes and other price manipulation methods, when it comes to Price...

Vicky Gordon used to work on the now-closed UK jewellery channel "Rocks & Co" that became Juwelo.com, with the Cavills, Poppy Hadkinson (Primal Living) and others who now work elsewhere such as TJC.

    Good value items

Yep. Do love a nice cognac quartz though and a well-cut sphene in that colour palette too.

    Good value items

Agreed, although a bit wishy-washy and possibly windowed in cut. I'd prefer the colour of one of those in the pictures I posted. DT said that silver rock was "gem grade" and "translucent" 🙄😀. You can buy a pretty Amazonite ring on Gemporia for £30.

    Good value items

Just watched a couple of minutes of the overnight repeats. The BS has reached silly levels. As TMWNN has said, DT still quotes the Forbes article on gemstone rarity. That article is from November 2015. Now, erm, Forbes magazine...why does that ring a bell? Oh. Right... that's the magazine...

    Good value items

To be fair, my 34" £149.99 Akoysas are 6-8mm and not all perfectly round. Personally, I'm not exercised by the "roundness" and quite often prefer a bit of irregularity. At least it guarantees that they're not sanded and then coated/bleached. But the 16" £999 ones in this morning's repeat...

    Good value items

TGGC has just become another retailer, really. It has no USP. "Cutting out the middlemen" can't be true any longer for most of what they offer. You really really have to look at the item details carefully and do comparisons. Example 1: Akoya pearl in gold today. £99.99 South Sea rose gold...

    Good value items

Very pretty emerald. I do prefer the slight blue, leaning into turquoise colour of Zambian emeralds.
