It seems that when they switched to soy wax the scents were weaker. My old type Yankee candles have a bigger fragrance throw and they must be at least 10 years old. I now buy wax melts from a local company and burn them in my Yankee electric melts warmer. Massive choice of scents and sizes.

Quite agree. The majority of my friends and family wouldn’t know l’Occitane, Elemis or Molton Brown. Now get them anything by Elizabeth Arden, Yardley, Bronnley, Floris etc, then yes they'd know the brand.
