Bid Tv and Breast Cancer Fao of somebody at bid

Apologies for being off topic Newtobid, but I also wanted to add one further point: I saw Peter Simon selling a BCC campaign product and at the end he said something like '40 people on the phones missed out on that one' - are they going to give the money from the phone calls that missed out to...

    The Cutlery...

Haha - how that guy keeps a straight face for 3 hours is a mystery!

Bid Tv and Breast Cancer Fao of somebody at bid

Oh these 'charity' campaigns are absolutely outrageous. 10% of the 'selling price' to a charity. Absolutely outrageous and sickening how the presenters will stand there talking about illnesses and highlighting the devastating statistics and saying lines like 'now, you can help be part of the...

    The Cutlery...

Yeah - I saw them in a big box with ribbons - and then they took the lid off and it looked like a load a cheap thin cutlery had just be thrown in there randomly. They went on to sell 600! Shocking.

    The Cutlery...

I've watched in dismay as i've seen them sell 10,000s of their incredibly low-quality 16 piece cutlery set for £1 (plus £7.99p&p and the £1.53 phone call) - so a total of over £10. What are people doing?! Why on earth would you spend £10 on some awful low-quality cutlery set? (They look...

    According to Mike ...

Haha. I saw him saying he spent £40 on a scarf! Love it when the Bid Presenters claim they 'recently' spent X amount on an item...they clearly never grab the apparent bargains on Bid...

    Report to ASA/Offcom thread

As Merryone said, they seem to tread a very fine line between being in violation of ASA and just bullcrapping - i.e. the 'selling price' of a £1 when it costs £10+ to get it ordered and delivered, the telling you a product is 'designer', the 'charity campaigns' where the charity gets a minuscule...

Vote for the worst Bid Network Presenter

James and Mike are the worse for outright lying and deception. Peter seems to be a mix of lying and general ignorance and lack of awareness over what he's saying. RE researching and explaining the projects - Guy doesn't seem to do anything except read out the number every 30 seconds...

Jay Cooper (Sewing Machine Man) on Watchdog BBC One Tonight

Awful man - talk about terrible customer service. Incredibly rude and insulting. But this doesn't surprise me at all - it's Bid. Hopefully it's the last we'll see of him on the channel. (I'm waiting for the day that Bid is featured on Watchdog - and I do genuinely think they will be one...

    What a con!

Bid do this all the time - refer to an item as 'gold' and heavily imply that is a genuine gold (This is a heavy weight, the price of gold is through the roof, we struggle to get gold) and then the description describes it as 'gold plated' or 'gold finished'. It really is such a low selling...

    Well done Mike :-)

Maybe he should give up lying and bullshitting next.

    Charlie's clock and drop

I saw some of this - it was brilliant how they were promoting it for like the first 30 minutes as the best thing to ever happen on Bid, and then abandoned it 5 items later because nothing was selling. Shot themselves in the foot when they sold about 50 Blue Magic's out of a quantity of 500!

    Peter Simons monologue again

I'm not sure they were ever funny - but they have got increasingly bizarre.

Are some presenters more honest than others?

I think it's an interesting point. It does seem like most of the other presenters have to stick to a strict script. Whereas Andy seems to be fine to go off message. I personally much prefer it. Mike Mason is getting worse and worse. He actually just spends hours and hours bullshitting.

Are some presenters more honest than others?

Completely agree. They sell mostly tat, and any time they do have a decent product on, you can usually find it online cheaper. I can't believe it when I see them sell quantities of 300+ for a Motorised Duster (Only £5! Plus £7.99, but £1.53 - what a bargain!)

Are some presenters more honest than others?

It's struck me recently that some of the presenters seem to be much more honest than others. I was watching Andy Hodgson the other day, and he was more than happy to refer to items as 'not branded', 'cheap and cheerful' and even at one point mentioned the p&p costs. He was selling some tat at...

    P&P down to £5.99!!

While the reduction in P&P (if true) is a decent move on the part of Sit-Up - I agree with Tasi that the P&P should be a true reflection of the cost to actually send the item. Bid-tv sell loads of tiny items and shipping them at £5.99 is still extortionate.

    Bid at it again

I agree with Bennyxp, I don't think the channel purposely do this. I genuinely think it occurs when demand is way over what they expected. As always, Bid TV display the quantity left and the cost of the call - if you want to purchase (I personally would never pay for the call or the postage)...

    Bid at it again

This has happened a few times. I'm not really sure what you object to, they obviously have plenty of stock of many items, but sell only limited quantities of it at a time. The 'limited quantity' is how sellers have persuaded people to buy for years, similar to 'limited stock' or 'last few...

What do you think of the new bid shopping graphics?

The biggest problem is that the graphics are 4:3....urgh. I don't mind them as such, they're pretty basic but do the job. They do look a little cheap though. I think the uniformity across the sit-up channels with the graphics is an improvement though.
