It's changed so much these days. Liberty's is still there but its not really my cup of tea. Just got John Lewis in Oxford Street now, I use that a lot. There's a few nice shops in Regent Street but it's a different world these days. Hamley's is still there, got so many memories of being taken there as a child.

I don't go to Oxford Street very often, I'd rather go to Westfield (either Shepherds Bush or Stratford) as its under cover and there's a proper food hall.

And of course we had the 2 huge C&As in Oxford Street, they're Primark now. I don't buy many clothes there but their homeware is great.
We go to London every December to go to the Royal Albert Hall carol concert, and we always go to Liberty's. I love their Christmas shop, and it's reasonably priced compared to the rest of the goods they sell.

Army & Navy in Victoria, Whiteley’s, Arding & Hobbs, Gamages, Marshall & Snelgrove, Barkers of Kensington …Proper department stores all gone now. My Dad was catering manager at Marshall & Snelgrove in Oxford Street. He used to let me wander round the toy department after closing time (I was 23 at the time) and choose a toy or two. He always said he paid for them, but I don’t think he did. Oxford Street in the late 1960s was full of great shops. Now it is full of not much at all. Nothing much for the looters to steal any longer in many UK city high streets. Nottingham where I live now is absolutely awful for city centre shops nowadays, too.
I remember Whiteley's well as I don't live that far away. What I remember was a very old fashioned shop. When the department store closed the building was converted into a shopping centre which was reasonably successful for a while, it had some good shops but wasn't brilliant and shops started closing so it closed down

It's being redeveloped again but I haven't walked past it for a while, I'll check it out one day.

It's sad that high streets are suffering.

I love Christmas concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, its a fabulous venue, I go every year too. I'll have a look at Liberty's Christmas shop this year.

We saw it when we were walking around Queensway waiting to go to see Robbie Williams at Hyde Park a few weeks ago. Still noticeably the former store. Beautiful building.

You will love it.
I love to walk down Old Bond Street at Christmas at all the designer shops and look at their windows. Tiffany, Chanel, Ralph Lauren etc. Although the windows are not as grand as they used to be a few years ago, everyone is cutting back

Then at the bottom of the street is Fortnum and Mason on Piccadilly, their windows are fabulous! And I have been known to pop in to "use the facilities" on the first floor. Very posh😊
